In the first guest conversation of this show, Dr. Njeri Karianjahi talks with her friend Dr. Naomi Kiniu who views her fellowship experience as a shared one with her family and support system. This is the first of several stories from cardiology subspecialists that will be featured in season one of Fellowship Safaris.

• During her application process she sought advice from mentors and colleagues. 
• Before beginning her fellowship, she took extra hours to learn pediatric cardiology skills to prepare while in Kenya.

• In Malaysia she experienced a language barrier and limitations in travel due to COVID pandemic restrictions.
• Her spiritual practice and communication with family kept her grounded during the fellowship.
